This morning at school some kid in my class came to school TB positive and and he’s had it since August. He was taken to be treated but in 6th period they called down everybody that had a class with him to the media center and told us we could have been exposed! There was 10 teachers and over 100 students there. I read online that 50% of the people that get it die! Luckily I have my vaccinations but I don’t know if I can still get infected! Please answer fast, I’m freaking out!

TB is a heavy bacterium, so it is unlikely anyone got it. People who live in the same household are much more likely. Years ago, in the 1960’s, I walked through a TB hospital in St. Louis, and did not ever wear a mask. Still test negative.

TB doesn’t cause deaths anymore. But there are medicines to take for nearly a year. This is reportable by law, and can even result in an arrest and forceable drug treatment to eradicate it in extreme cases.
