What Are Some Unique Therapy Groups for Adults?
Question by Vice: What are some unique therapy groups for adults?
I work in an adult residential drug rehab facility for women as a mental health counselor. What are some unique or creative ideas for groups I can hold for the residents? There are already groups for DBT, seeking safety, coping w/triggers anger management, body image, yoga, and domestic violence. I am having difficulty thinking of helpful and creative issues for which to start up a group.
Any suggestions? If so, what type of activities would it involve?
Thanks!

I’m a Heroin Addict?
Question by takingsunday21: I’m a heroin addict?
Ok, to start im a 20 yr old male. I started using heroin about 5 or 6 months ago, when i was 19. I really hate what ive become. I have an awesome girlfriend, who doesnt have any idea about my problem, actually, none of my family knows. im a very skilled guitar player, but havent done anything productive since i started using. I know that in a twisted way, im fortunate to be seeking help this early in my addiction. so yes, my withdrawal period will be easier than someone whos been using for years but, at the same time, im to far in for it to be anywhere near easy. going cold turkey is not an option, i tried, and became extremely sick, and i never want to feel that way again. also an in house rehab center wouldnt work, because i have a fulltime job and i really dont want anyone to know about this, my family, friends, or co workers. Once im off, relapsing wont be an obstacle. It wont happen, im so ready to be off this damn drug. man, a methadone treatment would be ideal, but i want a doc.

If Marijuana Were Legal, Would Rehab Embrace It Like They Do Cigarettes?
Question by harryh: If marijuana were legal, would rehab embrace it like they do cigarettes?
I have a former relative in a drug rehab facility. When he went in, he was not a cigarette smoker. From what I hear, he has now taken up smoking, and the facility is discouraging him from trying to give it up. With tobacco, being the number one killer among drugs, I find this extremely counter-productive and just another one of rehabs hypocrisies. So if marijuana were to be legalized, would such a facility embrace this too? How is this not hypocrisy.
Sage… Your off topic and missing the point of the question. But…. just I so get this straight, are you actually suggesting that nicotine (a drug that kills 5.4 million people worldwide per year) is a safer drug than Tetrahydrocannabinol (a drug which there has never been one confirmed death) ? Your not really serious are you? If so, what’s your last name Benson or Hedges?
midnight. He was an in-law. There was a divorce. Therefore -former family member.
What Am I Supposed to Do After My Life Inside a Drug Rehab?
Question by brad: What am I supposed to do after my life inside a drug rehab?
I just got out of a drug rehab. I feel good and I think I made the right choice. What am I supposed to do now? I’m 21 years old and I know that I have a good life ahead of me but I just can’t seem to figure out where to start. I can’t even go back to my old friends. They’re still holding pot sessions. I don’t want to risk my recent recovery. Any suggestions on what I can do to continue a healthy life?
