…Who on Yahoo Q/A remembers her? In this movie she seems so sweet; was she America’s sweetheart? It seems like she was or should have been. She had such a beautiful voice and sang the song “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas”, which just about can put one in tears. She died in 1969 at age 47, I believe, after a rough life.
…Who remembers her and anything about her?

Shes had several books and TV specials written about her.
She was given diet drugs at a very early age to look good for her movies back then it was all amphetamines. She was also a little off mentally, very dependent and not very happy.
I saw her once in person, she was incredibly tiny, maybe 4’11”. At that time she was very skinny, ragged looking, and she looked dead scared of the crowd.
She did have a beautiful voice though.
